The Fine Wine Company

The Fine Wine Company Ltd was founded in 2003. When we first started, we believed that there was the need for a good, down to earth, friendly and helpful specialist wine shop offering a range of interesting wines from mostly smaller producers. A sort of antidote to the increasing anonymity and sameness of the big chain stores. It was a struggle at first, but we never compromised on our mission to bring as many as possible of the world’s more interesting and innovative wines to our customers. We have been rewarded in the enormous increase in wine drinking in the UK and the resulting growth in demand for the more characterful styles.

That’s not to say that we go out of our way to source weird and eccentric wines, but we do believe in “Life after Chardonnay”, and we do our best to seek out the absolute best style and quality from each region of the world…And if we don’t find anything that fits the bill we won’t list a wine just to be able to tick a box.

As our business has grown and we have become better, we have been able to access more and more of the hard to come by wines from producers that are too small to show up on the radar screens of the large retail groups, and we have been able to reward our regular and loyal customers with allocations of some of these vinous treasures. We now ship many more of our wines directly from the producers, which gives us exclusive access to great wines and allows us to further strengthen our price competitiveness.
